Took my good friend Allen and his son James out Sunday morning for a little humpy fishing. Got on the water at 7:30 and ran down past the ship wreck out in mid channel. The plan was to get the gear set, then troll east toward shore where most all the other boats were. Well as soon as we got our gear down at 45' and 55', the 55' rod goes off and James puts the first chromer in the boat! Reset that rod, and before I can get our third rod set, the 55' goes off again and James puts # 2 in the boat. Now I put James in the drivers seat, reset the rod, Drop the other to 55' and put rod # 3 away. Ended up putting 8 fish in the boat and losing 7. Both Allen and James said that was the best fishing they had ever experienced on the sound. I only reeled in one fish but had a blast putting smiles on their faces. Hope to get out again soon. Get out there the fishing is red hot, as is my smoker.
