I fished the Edmonds Coho Derby yesterday with my son(10), and friend Tom. Dave was correct in his post that someone got ran over at the launch. Everyone needs to be extra careful out there when it's still dark. Drivers need to slow down and pedestrians need to pay attention. Enough preaching more fishing! On the water before 6:00 and lines in about 6:30. First takedown happened around 7:00, a nice 12ish pounder cartwheeled right next to the boat and was gone! Bummer, hit a white hootchie 34" behind a green/ glow hotspot flasher down 45'. Next fish hit about 20 mins. later. A 6.95 lb. dressed weight coho for Tom. Came in 225th place according to the leader board at Edmondsderby.com. That fish was part of a double, we lost the other fish. That fish hit the same setup as the earlier fish. Next up my son caught a 4.65 lb dressed weight coho on a mother of pearl coho killer spoon behind a green and white flasher. Next it was my turn. I was fishing a purple haze hootchie behind a green glow flasher down 95'. I hadn't any luck for a long time and it was after 10:00 so I decided to change my set up. Well on the way up this hungry 9.9 lb dressed weight coho decides he wants that hootchie and hits it hard! Suprise, suprise. After some stong runs and heart attack inducing acrobatics he slipped into the net. He was good for 45th place and got me the last prize given out. Thank you to the two people ahead of me that didn't show at the awards ceremony. I got three kone zone flashers, a hand towel and gift certificate to Arnies. It was a fun day on the water with my son and my friend Tom. By the way, my son also caught a humpie that had his nose bit off! That excited him more than his coho. Can't wait till the Everett derby next week. Good luck and see you on the water.
PS- my wife took a nice picture of the three of us with our fish, but she took the memory card to make some prints. When she gets back I'll post it if I can figure it out. I haven't had much luck in the past, but I'll try harder this time. Mark

Sounds like you had a great day cant wait to see the pics if you e-mail the fellow in charge of the site he can add them to your post. Were about in the area were you fishing how fast and what direction was the hook ups. From what I heard about the guy getting ran over it was the drives fishing buddy he backed over who is re cooping in the hospital and that I got from the port of everett people. The accidents have been many this year at the everett boat launch this year. Thanks for the report

The problem I'm having with my pics is that they are too big. I can't figure out how too resize them. Anyway I'm fishing the Everett Derby this weekend, and when I make my report I'll attach this photo with the report along with any aditional photo's. I have my fingers crossed. I started trolling south of the point along the edge of the bar in 120' to 150' of water. 3 of our fish came trolling south and 1 came when we turned east way down by browns point. I tried to keep my speed around 2.5 mph and 45 to50 deg. angle on the d/r cable. Hope this helps.
