Make sure you are fishing right close to bottom
you might be interested in this recent report...give it a try. let us know how you do.
report is from Dec 4
Went out for the evening bite, started at south hat and just marked tons of fish and bait, huge piles, Ran flashers and squid, spoons, bucktails, brads cut plugs, and silver hordes, with no success. So we trolled over the race track towards camano. We marked tons opf bait in the 80 foot range up towards the point. Man so many fish but no Hitters,. About 2 oclock. I said Ok im going to give the aces high a try, So i put down the aces high pink uv. We decided to hit the shallows and see what we marked. tons of arcs wow the shallows were full. Within 2 mins of that beinbg down there blam . got me a nice 8 lbr. and 48 feet in 50 feet of water. and lots of take down pop offs after that. My dad had one on and lost it, Most all the hits were in 100 FOOT. but the hookups were in shallow. fish checker said I had the only legal fish today. one other boaty had a 20 incher and 23 inch wild. What morons, she said they were lucky she wasnt a gamey.., wow cant get the picture to work

If you marked bait, things must have improved. I was out two weeks ago, fished the Racetrack, Elger Bay and hit the SE side of Hat briefly on the way back. My nephew got one about 5 pounds at Elger but mostly I saw very little bait or fish. 8-2 is open about one month early this year so I dont usually fish it until Jan. I usually think of 8-2 as a Jan early Feb deal. Think I'll give the Stilly at Fortson a shot tomorrow. I fished the Stilly last week in the cold, out of sheer boredom, nothing going on but the water has been up 3 feet now falling back so there may be somthin going on.

Most mornings when I leave my home for work at around 6am I see guys towing boats towards the nearby area 8-1/8-2 State Park launch. GTF, you must be one of them. I was wondering if anyone was doing any good in Elger Bay or Greenbank so I appreciate the heads up. This report and replies is a good reminder for all of us to check the regs before fishing. Most of us have been there done that same thing High Tide did. Were human! I really wish those who pass me in the morning going to fish would post their reports but maybe they aren’t members or are aware of the site. How’s that for giving them the benefit of the doubt? :)
