I went out to westport to try my luck at ling cod today. I started off at the south jetty and the first cast I made I hooked a ling! unfortunetley it fell short of 22 inches but I was stoked that I got one so fast. then 4 hours went by and I walked all the way to the end of the jetty and back with nothing. my uncle caught about a 2lb bass and I talked to one guy who had a 31 inch ling, but the wind kicked up and my grandpa wanted to get off the jetty. so we went to the pier by where all the charters go out of and I managed to get two more shaker lings between 14 and 17 inches. not a stellar day but I was pretty happy with 3 lings in one day seeing as how I have only caught about three before today.

On the jetty the one I caught was on a diamond jig
On the pier I caught both of them on a chartreuse roadrunner crappie jig.
My uncles bass was on a herring under a bobber.
