I arrived at the pier at about 6:15 A.M. on Sunday. My first early morning fishing attempt at the pier this year. For as few fish that have been caught this year the parking lot was fairly packed.

This is going to closer to a gripe report at the start. 1. If you are going to fish on a crowded pier please do not bring the rod that has the braided line on it, and if you do warn the person that is still asleep that you have braided line and may cause a premature death to your lure. On my forth cast I ended up sacrificing a megabait because the guy next to me casted across me and at some point the lines touched. The individual to the right of me suffered the same problem a few casts later. Giving the gift that keeps on snagging is one thing but..... 2. What is it with people that insist on getting as close to you as possible when there is plenty of room and your getting closer to the cleaning bay than you wanted to be at? 3. If there are 9 people on the dock and your in the middle of the mess and 8 of them are all casting to the left... please for the sake of everything don't cast to the right and cross up everybody. One cast every now and then Ok but every single cast. 4. I wish there was a bathroom closer to the far end of the pier :D. Honestly... 3 shots of espresso's before I left the house decided to well you know.... after I had been on the pier for like an hour and a half. Needless to say the caffeine didn't really wake me up. 5. Dear Wife the next time I say to you that I going to go fishing at 5 a.m. please either tie me to the bed or hit me over the head with a frying pan so I will sleep though the whole thing.

People 45 to 50 people on the pier some showing up as early as 4 a.m. and by 9:45 a.m. not one hook up.

A few regulars and a bunch of new faces were there.

Weather: Clear and chilly after an hour I wish I had brought a jacket with me, that or built a small bonfire on the pier. Wind was out of the west doing about 6 - 10 mph that eventually died down as the morning continued.

Current: Not much of one but my 2 ounce crippled herring wasn't really sinking at all. My 2 ounce Gray/Silver P-Line one did....

Bait: Based on the the guys fishing for herring - it was around.
Salmon: I saw no salmon, heard of no salmon, caught no salmon.
Crab: It's sunday... the only crab(ing) out were the people fishing and not catching :D

If I knew it was going to be that bad I would have dragged my kite out and gone to the park instead - I'm kidding I'd still have been on the dock. But if I had I'd still have the lure but who knows if I'd still have the kite :D.

Anyways that's my report. No salmon were harmed during the trip out. My guess is they were all a foot or two off of the casts... laughing at us. :D
