I like to put the boat in at Shilshole marina and then go around the point at Golden Gardens. I drop my pots in about 80' of water between the North Beach Community and Carkeek Park. Most years I do pretty good here.
Tonight I went and checked pots. They had been on a 24 hour soak. 2 pots yielded probably 20 crabs in each pot. Interesting this year I found that I had 95% females and almost all these crabs were of sub-legal size. Many past years I may have also found females,, but they may have been 7-8" across. The first pot yielded one keeper male. The second pot of 20 crabs yielded the remainng 4 keeper males for my limit. Most were just barely over legal size. One was close to 8" though. I dropped two more pots for another list member, and will return Saturday. It's midnight, and crabs are boiling away.
