Met up with a buddy bright an early. Got to the fishing ground on possession and the water looked like it was raining with bait. It was everywhere in the early am.
Buddy drops down and wham he get hit and the fight is on. He got it half way to the boat and i said there's a seal on it dude. So he reels down hard and tells me that he's getting the fish back. few minutes later fish comes up and i net the 12 pounder. The cool thing there was no harm done to the fish from the seal.
Then 10 to 15 minutes later my rod starts dancing. I hop on the rod and fight it. Its not really fighting very well, so it thinks its a small hatchery. But i was wrong 14 pound hatch in the box.
Bite dies for a little bit and the crowd builds so we move off the a area close with no boats on it. My rod goes off again but this time it popped itself off cause i didn't have the line deep enough in the clip. Feels like a nice fish but, without that good hook set from the rigger it was bound to get off and did after a minute or so. Fun anyways.
Then i got phone call from a friend and about a minute into the conversation my buddy on the boat yells fish on. Hang up and grab the rod. This time the drag was coming of better than the 14 pounder and im thinken decent fish. Then he turns and runs to the boat, get him close and notice its not as big but hell they eat good too. It was an 8 pounder in the box.
Tried for another hour or so but the bait seen to have move off the bar for tide change. So we pick up gear headed to the ramp. Great day, awesome weather, hardly any wind. Perfect is all i can say. Hope we get back to that kinda weather soon.
The gear we were using was Q Cove flashers and Spoons and squids. Tried plugs for a bit but wasn't the hot bait yesterday. So don't get stuck on one type of gear.
If you don't have Q Cove flashers yet, you really need to go pick some up. I got six and want to buy more.
