My first report of 2011. My buddy Dan and I launched from Everett at 5:45 am and headed to Possession. We first tried to catch some flounder in front of Cultus Bay 30-40 feet of water after reading a report from a member who caught several in the 2 pound range but we were unsuccessful. We fished all over possession bar along with 2 other boats. It seemed like we were all trying to find underwater structure and we personally never located anything significant and yielded no lings. After 4 hours of this, we headed to the south end of Hat Island where we did the same thing with 2 other boats fishing the area and again we were unable to locate any decent structure. We had maps on board with GPS coordinates for underwater structures but we never seemed to locate anything significant. We called it a day after the wind finally started up and were back at the launch by noon. Only one other boat had been checked by the fish counter and that boat had no fish. It rained the entire time we were out but for the majority of the trip the water was very calm which was nice. We ended the day with 3 flounder and one brown rockfish, all released except one of the sanddab which was small and used for bait.
