Fished the A9 opener today and had a pretty good day on the water. From the sounds of the radio chatter and talking to a bunch of my buddies it seems like it was a bit of a slow opener. Not much going on up around PT or Mid Channel, the bar was so-so at best, and A10 wasn't really much better. We fished from Eglon to Pt No Pt pounding the bottom with about 50 other guys. The high swing in the AM was the best bite we saw and hooked 4 fish before 8am then nothing till 11am when we quit. Lost 2, and boated 2. The 2 we landed were about 8lbs or so, both hatchery. The first one we lost was a nice one, over 15, my guess is closer to 18lbs. It came right to the boat at first then came alive alongside us and starting doing the death roll which popped the barbless tailwagger cookies and cream spoon out of its lips. Other fish we lost just grabbed the hoochie off the DR and started peeling line, just kept right on a goin' until suddenly the line went limp and it was gone. It was an overall good day on the water. Sorry I didn't include any pics, this was actually my first day working the test fishing boat with the stae and I was more focused and collecting data today than taking pix, I will get some pictures in the future.
Good luck out there. I am hitting it tomorrow with Sickbayer from the forum.
