I got to the Shilshole launch after the major morning rush and in the midst of an outgoing tide, made my run to an area that I know gets minimal pressure. I had my Brad’s Superbait Cutplug and flasher in the water around 7:30am fishing the 110’ line. I initially chased the fish I was marking between 30’ and 45’ down but quickly realized that they were not in the biting mood. Dropped down to drag the bottom and while I was fiddling with the crab traps, hooked up with a 8.5lb hatchery king that I was able to coax into the net. Freshened up my bait and repeated the run which resulted in a takedown that didn’t stick and a hookup with an 18.5lb hatchery king that also made its way into my net. I was happy that the porpoises in the area did not take an interest in either fish and didn’t seem to bother the other two boats that had picked up a couple of silvers fishing the area with me. I finished setting up and baiting my crab traps and dropped them in the water a bit after 8:00am. Changed out my rod and terminal tackle for some pink action and continued to troll the area until 10:00am without any luck. Pulled the first trap which held a limit of keeper dungies and a few huge redrock crab, bonus! Second pot held more keepers, so I high graded my catch and called it a day. Lesson learned was, I changed out the 2/0 siwash hook that comes with the cutplug lures in favor of a 4/0 size a couple of weeks ago. Since then my hookup ratio increased, and any fish that stuck initially was brought to the boat. The smaller of the two fish had a couple of large herring in its stomach, so the regular sized Cutplug was a good match.

Note: fished the same area on Saturday with Mav186 and all we picked up were a couple of dogfish and flounder. Dungies took two sets to limit, lots of just undersized crab, and we ended up boating a 4lb silver just north of Jeffhead.

Sounds like a really nice time. Always appreciate that you seem to often show a pic.of the lure/rigging that you are using. Little things like the style of hook, and how you attached to the Brad's C. plug are good to see.
Isn't that awesome when you go to pull up your first crab pot,,, and you have a a limit of dungies, plus the bonus red rock.

They both show Jefferson Head and give a bit of detail on how to fish it with regards to the tides. This isn't where I caught the kings, I prefer to keep that area to myself and the few that fish it regularly. Jefferson Head covers a large area, holds many fish and seems to be an annual meeting area for the Sound's resident silvers.
