Started fishing by possession point around 10:30 this morning, withing 10 minutes we had a fish on, but it was a a very nice sized ling cod. about 30 minutes later we had action on our downrigger again after a nice fight we had the fish in th boat, it was a decent coho maybe 7-9 lbs. We fished the rest of this run and pulled up the downriggers and ran back and made another pass( we didnt want to fight the current, it was cruising) on the next pass after the 1st coho we had another fish on and it spooled out some line thought we might have a bigger coho but it was another decent sized coho. once the tide slowed down so did the fishing for us. after another couple passes we got a humpy. It was time to call it a day so we ran back towards the edmonds marina and made a couple passes by the breakwater. @possession and edmonds waterfront we were fishing between 60-80 ft on our first turnaround after checking my gear to make sure it was clean my uncle asked me to put the downrigger down about 20 ft until we turnaround( if we turn too sharp sometimes the fishing poles mainline or downrigger line gets hung up on the kicker motor) to our suprise I got a big hit and free'd the line from the downrigger clip and the fish started to take off, the fish put up a nice fight and made one last ditch effort and jumped and spit the damn barbless hook but got to see it and it had some shoulders on it low to mid teens in poundage is my guess after one last, one last pass without a fish we called it a day.
On a side note, on the last pass we saw a boat catch a very nice king 15-20 lbs, so when the guy came to pull his boat out I asked him how fishing was, really just wanting to see how big his fish was, he said they didnt catch any kings just a couple pinks, i was 100% sure it was this boat that just caught, landed, and kept this king so i asked him really you didnt catch anything else and he said no, I can only assume this means he kept and hid this king with a fin intact but maybe im just crazy and it was just a pink pff ya right lol
