Launched out of Redondo, which is in its winter mode. Hindsite tells me that I should have snapped a photo of the launch in this condition so as to better prepare first time users. Essentially, during the winter season, you have a beach launch and no usable dock, so be prepared if you intend to use it. Initially ran up to Three Tree Point, dropped our pots and trolled the area while they soaked. After a hour and a half of trolling with nothing but one shaker we checked our pots and found starfish along with a few undersized crab. Picked up the gear and ran to Point Robinson to repeat the process. The fishing action was much more consistent, lots of shakers, but nothing in the keeper range. Crabbing was much better though and we ended up each one shy of our limit. The pots in the shallower water yeilded all the keepers, nothing but undersized crab out deep. The weather wasn't too bad, no wind to speak of and the rain held off until after we had the boat back on the trailer. If you haven't taken advantage of the perfect tides for crabbing this week, I highly suggest you give it a go.
