Maybe next year for crab in 8-2 and 9, Tribal commercial fishers have had their way in June. 10-1 female to male avg, and only 1 of 5 males was legal. Saw more pots than crab :( overall managed 6 keepers out of 4 pots. Tide was running hard and there was a lot of pressure.

I would be thrilled if I had a day like yours. Went to Camano Island State Park with the kids trying for the first time. Dropping 2 pots, after 2 hours the first one got 6 with one Dungie and one Red as keepers; the second one got about 20, none keepers. Re-dropped for another 2 hours, lot of female and undersized, zero keepers! I was on a canoe trapping off the beach, saw a lot of people on boat going somewhere else with good success. I guess knowing where to drop the pots was the major factor.

The indians did fish the hell out of 8-2. I was out lingcod fishing(during season) and going from tulalip bay to hat island I had do drive slow and weave in and out of crab pot buoys. not to mention some knuckle head had black buoys for his pots, no red and white and when water was rough I almost ended up in his ropes a few times not seeing the buoy till the last minute. I did manage my limit of crab on the opener in just a couple hours. MOST are putting pots way too deep for the best crabbing. Beware of missing pots, I lose some every year and I can see my pots in the water from my living room window. I do not leave pots out over night any longer too expensive.

I don't leave my pots unattended either, usually anchored right in the middle of them. I heard the afternoon was better with less tide movement, but as I expected Mukilteo launch was completely full at 2:00 when I came in.
