i havent been out fishing for a while.this report is for days sat.,sun.,and Monday.a friend of mine bought a boat and wanted to crab and catch anything so they called me and no second guess I say YES for sure.

friday went looking to buy crab trap,called up people(thanks chris) found some affordable ones grab 2 set it up traps and fish gear.

saturday we launch at mukilteo and drop the pot and fished for flounders and boy they have fun like i did at the first time i fished for these flounders,we got 8 people on the boat and everyone fishing boyyy its was a riot.lol.3 1/2 hours later we checked our trap and to our suprise 1st trap no keepers all female and small ones,2nd trap got 2 and bunch of females.
so we move somewhere closer to richmond beach area and drop,fish some more till everyone turn blue(sea sick) cause of the waves and wind including my self decided to call it a day.

Sunday is picnic day we got 3 people celebrating birthday last week so we have bbq and picnic at Golden Garden.my friend went out early and drop the traps on high tide(i forgot to mention to him to be aware of the tides and where theyre droping the traps) first trip 4 crabs keeper and trip i went with them and i notice the tide just turn getting higher,went to look for it cant find it so text chris(from the site)and decided to leave it overnight and comback for it the next day. 4 crabs

Monday was a short day on the water,plan is just to look for our traps.so head to shilshole at 9am to catch the low tide, went out and found our traps,pulled it up and excited hoping to have a good ones on this since it was soaking over night,but were desapionted coz no keepers on both traps and the traps got 4 crabs in it,thats kinda wierd we think that maybe the area is all crab out already.well we were just glad to find out traps.

Good going dude!! have been busy so have not gone out since my boating incident. Hopefully in another week or 2 will be back out for salmon/crab, nice lookin out,..

On a long soak the crab can get back out of the traps when the current is running. The gates will actually "blow" open if you don't weigh them down. I wrap some flattened pencil lead around the gates to help prevent this from happening. You can also purchase replacement gates with weights built into them. I also make an effort not to have my pots in the water during a heavy exchange. If you have a GPS unit, bring it along and mark your pots as you drop them. It makes it much easier to find them later on, especially if the tide has pulled the markers under the surface.
