Had fun doing a little night squidding around Sequim area recently. Hope this year is a decent squid year around Fed Way/Redondo. Most of these were maybe 6-8 inches including tentacles. Was rinsing the ink out of them going back and forth in the double sink :-) They went down well with a light BBQing w/garlic & olive oil, smidge of wasabe to dip in, and washed down with a Heineken or two (moderation was used though- honest).

Not sure if the pic will show up. I'm lotech and it has ben awhile since submitting a report. Good luck all on the waters and stay safe! Oh, and don't get inked! I went thru 2 shirts and a pair of shorts... That's OK, they're all converted work clothes now.

Yes, some details about local squidding would be awesome. did you raise them with lights, or pick them off one at a time jigging. .It would also be cool to learn if they are breeding in the Straits or just migratory.

thanks

makscoot- yes they were actively breeding and laying eggs (could make out the white 'clouds' where they clustered eggs together on the bottom in maybe 15-20 feet of water). I caught a few during daytime but most at night around a light on a dock using a couple squid jigs (tandem style). Had a couple doubles and a couple where 2 squid were snagged on the same squid jig. I'll get a pic in tomorrow.
