After getting skunked with my Father-in-law and Brother-in-law on Saturday, we went back Sunday morning at daylight. Casting buzzbombs of various colors and green rotators from the beach. We had the whole beach to ourselves. After seeing a few jumpers down the beach about 100 yards and about 15 ft from shore I moved that way. A few minutes later my Father-in-law is yelling and I see a monster flopping around on the beach in a little bit of water. I quickly start running back his way and reeling in my line to assist him in landing this fish as he is not much of a fisherman. As I get to him a decent wave crashes and I see his line went slack and the hook popped out. Luckily his instincts took effect and he dropped the rod and dove on to this fish before the wave headed back out and took the fish with it. By the time I could get to him he landed it and I quickly check for an extra fin and it was not there! Whew! Bonked it and bled it and into the cooler it went. Fished for another hour or so and called it a day. Fish bit the green rotator (kind of like a buzzbomb). Got home and it weighed it, nearly 10lbs hatchery Coho! I give it a 4 for his first fish and being 2x the size of the fish I usually catch there.
