Dear old Dad wanted to fish today. Who am I to ruin that plan! Met at the Shilshle ramp @6:30. No line to deal with. We headed North toward Richmond Beach today. Fog? Yea you could say the recently purchased compass, from a WaLakes member, came in real handy.

2 lines down by 7:30. Dad had a tough day. Stuck with a two tone blue hoochie all day, and it did not get one hit by so much as a shaler.

My rod ran either a green flasher/white hoochie and glow twinkle skirt combo, or Bone white flasher/with twinkle skirt. or green flasher/with green needlefish with twinkle skirt combo. Flasher with twinkle skirt accounted for on Blackmouth released.

Flasher with White hoochie accounted for 2 lost Coho, one at the boat and was lost due to a netting error. Can't catch them all! Also accounted for a 4lb and 6lb-8oz fish for my limit. Also, caught a sub legal Blackmouth, released.

Needlefish hoochie did not get touched. Spent most of the day at 30ft of cable out in 300ft of water. With occasional cable lengths of 75ft

I tried keeping the boat at trolling speed while fish were played to the boat. But I can't stand the extra drag placed on the gear. And the water resistance kills the already sub par fight these little Coho produce. Today's 6lb + fish acted like a snag, so at triolling speed the drag played out but not one foot of line was reeled inn. Until the motor was cut to just above idle. Then that fish came right to the net.

These fish are excellent table fair, but at 7lob and under, the fight consists of head shakes all the way to the boat, with maybe some jumping, maybe not. Then a last minute thrash at the net, or not.

Was still very foggy when we left the water @12:30. And as in all previous fishing trips with Dear old Dad. He went home with a fish. I do not think he is wise to the fish bribery I am using, to stimulate a future outing of the fishing kind.

No flashers were lost or found today.

Why does Dad not change his gear? How is the shillshole launch? Is it a ramp or sling?

Sounds like there are still fish to be had out there. I'm surprised that with all the bait I've seen this season that they haven't put on more weight by now. Good for you in getting dad out on the water.
Danaublatt - The Shilshole launch is pretty good. It is paved, well protected, has several docks and a good amount of parking. Launch fee is $10.
