Got back out onto the water today for another awesome day of coho-mojo. I was a little bit worried heading out because everything I had been hearing and reading said that the bite was slowing down. A lot of people must have heard the same because the ramp wasn't nearly as crowded as it had been. I launched at about 6:00 at Don Armeni ramp in West Seattle and got our lines in the water just as the sun was coming up. At first I couldn't keep the shakers off of my line and released 4 within the first 30 minutes.

At around eight the bite heated up in a big way. Huge strike and the fight was on. I have been running deep 6 divers so the fight has been a little bit toned down but I could tell that this was a big fish. We fought for about 10 minutes before I got him up to the boat and into the net. Biggest coho I have seen. 16 lbs!!! Even the wdwf guy at the boat ramp said it was the nicest silver he's seen. I thought that it was so fat because it was stuffed with eggs but I it it open and figured out it was male.

Once I got my line back into the water and started trolling again it was about 8:15. I was headed north along the shoreline in about 220 feet of water when I noticed a huge school of Dall's porpoises off the bow of the boat. They were swimming along with me on the bow of the boat. As I got my phone out to take a video I got another big strike. This fish was not nearly as big as the first one but still a really good fish at just over 8lbs. This time a hen with two nice fat skiens.

Once again running a deep 6 diver with a green flasher and green splatter back hoochie. I used some miracle thread to put a strip of herring on the top hook of my leader. I run the flasher about 10' behind the deep 6 so that the play of the flasher doesn't flip my diver over. Makes landing the fish a little bit tougher but it saves a lot of frustration. I had about 150' of line out which I guess would put my gear around 65'. Also, I was trolling fast (2.8-3.0 mph)

The wdfw guy taking fish count at the ramp said that the bite had picked back up a little bit today but was not back to what it was last weekend.

Overall a great day of fishing. Can't wait to get back out. I'm uploading from my phone so I can't post pictures but ill try to post a link in the comments. Good luck and tight lines.
