Gave the lings another shot yesterday. Was hopeful given the slack current at 7:45 and again at 11:00 with a soft tide between.

Boat was in the water about 0530 and we were jigging for flounders by about 0615. Put in an hour or so and hand 3 perfect palm sized specimens along with three dinks and a barred surf perch. All of these were caught on a combination of Berkley Gulp Alive minnows and 1" crappie grubs fished on Carolina rigs in about 15' - 20' of water of the east end of Cultus Bay (Thanks for the crappie grubs in my renewal kit WA Lakes - worked like a charm).

With baits secured we began our ling fishing between the old ferry boat wreck and the green can at the east side of the bar. Wind was howling a bit so it was tough to get a good drift. In probably 8 or 10 drifts on the morning slack we didn't manage a single bite. There were multiple other boats fishing this area, most drifting with one or two anchored, and we didn't see a single fish on or net flying.

About 10:15 the wind settled down just enough for me to venture over to the west side of the bar in my 16.5' Smoker Craft Pro Lodge to join the group fishing over there. We saw one get boated just as we arrived. Put in another 8 - 10 drifts on the west side of the bar, again without a bite, before we decided to pack it in.

The wind made it next to impossible to stay on or near the good spots long enough to attract a bite and even those who were at anchor or were using their kickers to back into the wind to hold their spots were not getting bit. Even the flounders we were catching for bait were much smaller on average than what we managed just two weeks ago. Of course, this was a relatively small sample size (just 4 or 5 hours fishing) on which to make a judgment, at the same time it appears the fish on Possession Bar may have been pretty well picked over by now.

Between the wind and the lack of willing biters it was pretty tough sledding out there today.

Good Luck and Tight Lines!
