Friday is my new fishing day due to Sequestration budget cuts and being furloughed. It's kind of nice but will hurt the pocket book eventually. I showed up at 0500 and the parking lot was empty! I am used to fishing after work and weekends so this was cool! Picked my spot and started casting my buzzbomb and hoochie. It was only about 15 minutes and people started trickling in. One older gentleman came and fished off to my left and caught 2 what he claimed to be silvers. Not so sure on that but I never looked to see for myself. He left, and another older gentleman pulled up and took the last guys spot. In 20 minutes, he had one and went home. by this time there were probably 15 people fishing and nobody was catching anything except for that one spot 15 feet to my left. I changed my buzzbomb out to a green rotator/pink hoochie combo and still no luck. Saw one big jumper of course when I was tying my rotator on, about 10 feet from the bank a silver jumped straight up out of the water and went straight back down. When I say straight up, I mean it! It must have been 4 feet up out of the water! And it did it twice in a row right in front of me where I was fishing HAHA! Called it a morning after nothing else.
It was killing me not being at the beach all day. Yep, You guessed it! Went back for the evening tide from about 1730 to 2100. Fished with my green rotator/pink hoochie that I put on earlier while that silver just taunted me. I fished and fished and fished nothing. Nobody else getting any hits either except for a guy earlier who was bottom fishing messing around who got a few dogfish before the tide came up. I was about 10 minutes from leaving after seeing no action for 3 hours then all the sudden, BAM! Finally a hit. Nice little early arrival humpy! Finally put some ink on my nice clean catch card.
