Headed up to deception pass just below to the bridge to catch anything off the beach. I tried earlier with no luck but saw about 6 pinks jumping so there should be a solid run for the opener. Later while I was reeling in my buzz bomb something struck it, from only about 10ft from shore and then it really nailed it and I brought it up and it was a bautiful sea run. This sea run was the biggest one I've ever caught, plus it was a very bright fish. Had a fun day and will try for pinks next time.

I didn't know you could keep sea-run cutts in area 8-1?

If your letting fish go you should keep them in the water and remove the hook fast as possible. You should also look into pinching your barbs before fishing saltwater.

Yeah I was trying to keep it in the water but there was sea wall so I had to lift it up real quick. And yeah I always use barbless but this time I forgot.

Im not trying to be a jerk about this so don't get me wrong. But fishing with a pink buzz bomb when its not open for pinks until the 1st might get you a ticket, along with the barb. A warden might take it your fishing for pinks and the barb will be the kicker to get you a ticket.

Without a Pink in possession the warden can not ticket you for fishing for them.Non targeted fish are caught all the time. It's like saying you were going after salmon in the river while fishing for Dollies or other fish, it just doesnt stick. My brother-in-law is a warden and told me so. Just saying.

And I'm just saying that fishing in the salt with barbs WILL get you a ticket. By-catch or not, barbs are a no-no.

All trout caught in WA's saltwaters are illegal to retain besides hatchery steelhead. Just saying.
