Decided to head out to Port Susan to see if the pinks were in yet. Arrived at Kayak Point around 8am. Saw one fish jump right away so I thought it was going to be good but boy was I wrong. Fished for 2 hours with nothing on my hook but seaweed. Too early I suppose. Anyways, it beats being at work or home at that.

After the two hours at Kayak, I decided to check out my friends house and used his dock right in front of Ebey Bay to the Snohomish river. Tons of small salmon or cuttthroat trout jumping. Not sure what species they are but tons of them jumping and following my buzz bomb around. Anyone have suggestions what they may be? Well n anyways no pinks there either. Try again Sat. and then waiting 2 weeks. TIGHT LINES EVERYONE

The pinks are usually more plentiful in that area by now hmm?

As for the tons of small fish jumping in the Sno it's most likely steelhead and salmon smolts, should be even better fishing in a couple years if they survive.

We fished kayak point today. Only managed one 16" rainbow. We've been catching lots of rainbows around 14-16" around kayak, so could be what your seeing or maybe cutthroat trout.

Ya. I thought it was weird too but there's a bunch of them in the shallows. Here's a link to my dropbox pics:

All fish were released after a quick pic. We even caught one that was missing the adipose fin (hatchery), but we let it go.

I was just there in he evening and I seen one jump by my buddy really shallow. Didn't catch anything but a bowhead. Tossed him back. I heav the rain is gonna bring them towards the rivers. I want to know if its true?

Kayak Point usually doesn't get good for pinks until about the last 2 weeks of August, at least from past experience. There may be some early schools coming through there but not in good numbers. Around the 2nd week in September we focus on the Stilly and do pretty good there all the way into October (caught 38 last time). Good luck out there.
