Hit the water early with one of my all time best fishing friends. Got into a fish around 6:30-photo attached, feisty. Then nothing for a while. My friend got one around 8:40AM, then nothing. Almost quit and went home-we trolled around Redondo area for a while too-looking for splashing. Not much going on. After we put downriggers away decided to try one more spot since we saw some top water action. Got pretty hot around 10AM, late bite considering high tide was 4:46 AM, so don't give up if you don't hit them at first light-we kept moving all morning, looking-I was seeing some schools traveling under the boat-then we would cast, etc. Probably had 10 hook ups around 10AM-not far offshore-the few on the beach got a couple-it is not red hot out there so if you are looking for easy fish, wait a week, but they are out there..mostly using some version of squid jig and/or rotator/buzz bomb. I came home with 3, released 2 and one bit through my line and kept my hook. My friend got 2-the fish counter said the later folks seemed to do a little better-we quit around 11:30....
