Never fished for salmon before, been having trouble getting to sleep so that 4am wake up call to be at the beach by 530a kind of got thrown out the window.
I decided to try my luck this evening after another WA laker was successful a few days ago in the afternoon. I got to the beach at 6pm, walked the dog around a bit and try and get the lay of the land before I set up. Wind was blowing out of the north, that with the incoming tide I decided to set up on the eastern shore just south of a little riffle that was coming off the point.
I went with a 3/8 oz pink jig head with a small hootchie skirt on it, everyone else was throwing buzz bombs so I decided to try something a little different. Saw a few people catch some bull head, there was one pink that I know of that was caught on the north shore, and I think I heard some kids screaming once or twice more so some other people might have been successful.
I think I'll try the evening again but on a weekday instead of a weekend the crowds might be thinner, those early mornings will have to wait till the weekend. Maybe I'll find a buddy and put the boat in the water... I want to try Gorst once it starts up.
