Well I didn't have to go to work today till noon, so I decided to wake up early and hit up PNP and fish the outgoing tide. Normally my schedule doesn't allow for morning fishing during the week, and this is my first year attempting salmon. I rolled in at about 615, as I was walking along the beach I saw a guy placing one pink into his bag near the point. So I decided to fish the point, duh. Along with that one someone said there was 4-5 more that were caught before I got there. Then it died down for about 2 hours, the school seemed to be about 150-200 yrds out. Then a little after 9 a guy 20 yds to my right hits one, and then a guy 20 yds to the left hits one. So that makes 7-8 pinks caught this morning that I knew of. I left a little after 10 because I was meeting someone for lunch.
The only thing I caught were 2 bull head, I was throwing a 3" hot pink buzz bomb with a pink hootchie. The guy on my right was throwing what looked like a flattened kidney weight or a bent disk weight (I'm not exactly sure what it was) with a pink hootchie. There apparently was a guy that showed up on the north side of the beach, threw a shrimp in a few times, caught one and released it. The guy who told me this figured it was probably a king or a chum, but he admitted he wasn't sure from where he saw.
I think I'll try again on Saturday, or maybe Friday evening. That's 0-3 on salmon this year. Been thinking about trying out Gorst since it's closer to my house, but from what I understand pinks are easier to catch.
