Went to Westport yesterday hoping for the trifecta of razor clams, fish and crabs. Got 2 out of 3 so I guess I can't complain.
Had my regular fishing buddy with me, and met up with Bay Wolf and his wife, and Nate Treat popped in and fished with us. Nate was very generous and shared his sand shrimp with us, and hooked me up with a small greenling to use as ling bait. I had a ling grab on, but let go when I lifted the tip of the rod too much. Darn it. My buddy also had a ling on...jigging a new penny Gulp grub. But Nate landed what had to be a 20 lb ling. Pic attached. It was a monster. Good job Nate, although I'm still cussing at you in my mind! LOL
Limited on razor clams in the morning over at Grayland. They are hardly showing...you really need to look for the slightest dimple in the sand and go for it. Some good sized clams in there, but you're gonna work for them.
Finished the day at the Westport Marina dropping a crab ring. We only crabbed for an hour and came home with 6 keepers. 4 dungeness and 2 red rock. Pic is from our very first pull...3 keeper dungies on the first pull!
So all in all it was a decent day. No fish in the cooler, but got razors and crabs. I can't complain about that.
