Was so excited to hit the ling opener to try out my newly rigged KGM sand dab swim baits that I almost didn't get to sleep Wednesday night! So was a little late to Don Armeni boat launch to meet up with Alycia and Danny to hopefully get some of these tasty, toothy predators.

We launched about 5:45am and motored over to our spot and without having to fish for sand dabs, thought this would be a slam dunk deal before 8am! Well, first the ride over was less then smooth as a pretty good north wind and picked up and then of course we had the ferry swells to contend with.

We got to our spot and worked the water hard but only had couple possible takes but probably pulled up too early for them to fully get ahold of the dab. After a couple hours, Alycia tied on a salt water Banjo minnow I had that looked wicked and immediately got a rock fish but that was it.

Made the long, rough wet trip back across Elliot Bay to the launch so struck out this year on the opener. I know these things will work so if anyone has another spot they'd like to share in the south end you can PM me as I am about done with Elliot bay and the waters there after almost getting swamped last year by a tug wake!

Off to Chelan Friday for the get together! See you on the water!
