My son and I went out to Westport on Friday afternoon, spent the night and went out on a charter boat with Captain Kevin and his son Collin. We had an excellent time. The skipper kept us in the fish all day. When it got slow, like 15 min no action, he pulled us up to another location. We were targeting bottom fish, black rockfish (sea bass) and ling cod. We limited the boat and came home happier than clams at high tide. It was our first experience on a charter boat so really don't have anything to compare it to, except it's the most fish I've seen on a boat. At one point my son and I had 3 rock fish on our lines at the same time.

Captain allowed me into the wheel house and had a nice conversation with him and another fisherman. The ocean is unseasonably warm for this time of year and we saw a large sunfish as well. He suspects we should have a good tuna season also. That would be a hoot! (He offers 1 day tuna charters too.)
