With all the good surf fishing and clamming that I've been getting into, my old friend calls me up and want to get out and try surf fishing. We got there around 8am, lowest tide was around 930am. Clammed out in half and hour and went back to get set up for some perch fishing. Had left over bait from friday so I figure we were good to go. That wasnt the case today. Seen a few other fisherman out there, and they gave up half an hour to an hour into it. the waves where heavy and I'm sure everyone there was in a riptide. The weight would not stand still today, it kept on drifting at a pretty good pace. seen some crab pots out there. lost a couple setups, hooking onto what i believe is the same commercial lead rope that was there friday. Most of the clams where about 4 inches, then I moved and dug in the surf and got some nice 6 inchers. The 4 of the bigger ones had nemertean worms. One of them was a huge bugger. It was nice to get out and get a nice limit of clams. Glad I didnt go to the sky on opening day. Heard it was a zoo.
