fished from the 17th to the 20th. 17th... there were three of of us in the boat... my mom, my dad, and I. from the minute we started till the minute we stopped we were having bites. problem was almost all were shakers. I even tried 200 feet down on the rigger and still caught a shaker. i had just caught a shaker and was letting out fast to get back to the action in hopes for a big one and on my way down at 50 feet deep my line came out of the clip. about 3 seconds later a coho salmon soars out of the water with my lure and flasher. i couldnt believe at the speed i was going down a coho hit it. of course it was native but it was still really cool. every once in a while we would get a legal fish but they were far and few. after hours off trolling my dad hooked into another one which at first seemed like a shaker but then started to make good runs. when we got it to the boat and saw it it was big. i netted it after several tries and after 30 something shakers we had caught this 21.7 pounder and it was hatchery.finally a good fish.it was surprisingly dark colored but still tasted great! 18th... SLOW!!! i dont know what changed but today was insanely slow. for the day we boated 1 shaker and hooked only 3. 19th...today was a little better but not a lot.we boated 4 to 6 fish and only 1 was a keeper and just like the others barely legal. 20th...very good fishing! we were in our little 16 foot boat from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. also today caught 30 something shakers and 5 small keepers. we were out for several hours looking for that last fish but couldnt get it. but... we did get excitement! I was unhooking a shaker from my dads line and when i finished i turned around and my pole was out of the rigger clip and the fish already pulled up the slack and was hammering on my rod. so i picked and the instant i got it the fish took 50 feet of line then i gained about 20 feet and he made another looooooooong run. i could tell he was really big. we even went after him in the boat. after a really hard fight we got it to the boat. thats when i became heartbroken. it was a 25 pound native chinook. It was a beautiful bright and chrome fish. it was even bigger than most of the halibut we caught this year. but it was an amazing fight and story. The whole time we fished from 100 to 130 feet n the riggers and the biggest came at 100. using a green/glow flasher with a pure double glow hootchie.

Spent 4 days here last week. We caught some good sized fish. Two Kings of 25 pounds or so both wild. Caught some nice wild coho. Caught a 12 pound coho that was wild. But looking back suspect we threw back a sockeye. You can keep two additional sockeye. I have studied and will identify better. I think the bigger coho may well have been sockeye. My advice is to be prepared to identify these fish.
