This is the weekend in review Chinook fishing in A9.

Fished the Appletree --> Skunk Bay area Thursday, Friday, and Sunday and the fishing could only be described as white hot.

Thursday - Lines in 0530, fish on 0545, a keeper about 10 lbs. Next fish at 0630. Then at 0700 a double header with a 15# and 18#. Limited and back to Everett by 0730am including a double header with two very substantial fish!

Friday - 3 fish to hand. 2 smaller keepers 10# each and a TOAD of a nate. I would say pushing 24#. After a long battle we had it right up to the boat and a seal surfaced RIGHT behind the boat. Luckily my buddy was an experienced fisherman and put the wood to her and yarded it in out of the seals grasps. Got the adrenaline pumping, but unfortunately had to turn the fish loose. Missed one more great takedown that peeled some line before falling off.

Took Saturday "off" from fishing.

Sunday - Back out, 0530, by 0600 its FISH ON! Caught 4 legal keepers, 6lb, 10lb, 12lb and 18lb. Limited and heading back to Everett by 1015.

Fish were caught on a variety of lures, spoons of various colors, and squids. It all seemed to work well. Saw a significant bite occur at least once on each day. Lots of nets flying. We fished deeper than we normally would, following the 170-200 foot line seemed to produce for us. If you plan on going, expect company. The word is out that the fishing has improved and Sunday was a ZOO! Outrageous the number of boats that were out. Myself, and my buddies boat both experienced problems with other boats in the fleet.

Please PLEASE if you are planning to fish in the fleet with everyone else PAY ATTENTION and give plenty of SPACE! Boats with Fish-On always have the RIGHT OF WAY! Flat lines, or shallow runners up near the surface are discouraged in this type of environment, they are a recipe for disaster in close quarters! We only run our flashers back about 25' off the downrigger to prevent hangups. Common sense and attentiveness keeps us all in the fish, and SAFE!

I will be back out Thursday and 8th and Friday the 9th, assuming the season is still open!

Tight lines all, give me a holler if you see me on the water.

Tight lines all,

Matt

Nice report and fish. Are you freezing jugs of water to keep your fish cool? Seems like a good way to save money if thats what they are.
