Launched out of Westport around 5:45am, and surprisingly didn't have to wait for more than a few minutes to slip the boat off the trailer. The bar crossing wasn't bad and we headed north once we hit 45' of water. We had a stiff breeze and some fog early in the morning which subsided as the day wore on. Started our troll using Brad's Cut Plugs stuffed with anchovy and for our fisrt hour it was dead. Initially the number of boats in the area appeared to be minimal, however, as the fog lifted, it looked like party central. Finally we spotted some action from the other boats and it was shortly thereafter we had out first fish on, turned out to be a nice hatchery silver, so in the boat it came. Over the next couple hours we lost several fish and boated 2 kings in the 18 to 20lb range and released a very good sized native coho. I had switched over to using spoons and the hot color combo was black and white, call it cookies and cream or copcar and fished at 20' to 25' on the rigger. Once noon hit, the bite was off and all we could muster was a few drive bys. Around 2:00pm we called it quits and checked our crab traps, which yielded 2 keeper dungies along with scads of females and undersized males. The bar crossing on the way in was cake as the winds had subsided and the afternoon exchange was minimal. Speaking with some other boaters at the launch who had been out in 200+ feet of water, all they encountered were silvers, but lots of them.
