Launched at base of Ediz Hook around 9:30 perhaps?
Went with my father. He hasn't bought anything new since 1998 probably. Including line. Got one rigged up and in the water, promptly lost it with broken line between weight and flasher. Not twisted off, just broken. I"m going to guess a fish hit the hoochie and there was simply a weak spot.
That left us with only one other set of gear, which somehow held together, so we trolled that, other pole just a weight and a hoochie. He had a bite and landed a fish, had another bite, then by the time I had the other re-rigged with just the hoochie he had a 3rd bite. Did not land other two. We trolled into the wind, about a mile off the end of the hook, up to the mill, then back down to about where we started.
Other people were getting a fish here and there.
About 1pm we went back in and got the bag of gear I had bought and he conveniently left in the truck. Went back out and froze our butts in the ever increasing wind until about 4:30 and finally gave up. No other bites.
Overall it was a very disappointing, incredibly cold day. But at least we got 1 for our 8 hours of effort. Better to have a terrible day fishing and at least eat fish when one gets home!
