Launched at Shilshole at about 0745 Sunday morning. Tide was incoming with he high around 1000 so I motored about a mile north and west of the marina and started a southbound troll working the current seams. Started out with a purple haze flasher and purple haze squid stuffed with a UV Ace Hi-fly and baited with a herring teaser strip. Fished this at various depths from 50 - 100 with no action.

Somewhere south of Shilshole I switched over to a Gibbs UV red racer flasher and Irish Flag Coho Killer with a bit of Pro Cure Anchovy Super Gel. I started out fishing this around 60' on a tip from a passerby. No action at that depth. As I got closer to West Point in about 189' of water I started marking significant bait form the bottom all the way up to about 100'. I dropped my gear down to 115' and within about 10 minutes I had my first fish on. It was small (3 pound range) so after a short fight I put the little hatchery hen in the box around 0930. Fished the Coho Killer a while longer and stayed in the same water depth with the gear at 115' and managed a shaker chinook about 12" that was safely released and a shaker coho about the size of my hand that was hooked sideways through the top of the head. The barb-less hook came out easily enough but the little fellow was too traumatized to right himself and swim away.

Fished the Coho Killer a while longer including a circuit of the race track just off West Point with no takers. I headed back north with the tide change a bit past 1000 and switched over to a delta diver and herring with 75' of line out fishing directly behind the boat in the prop wash. Had a couple of drive-bys steal my bait including one solid take down that came unpinned before I could get the rod out of the holder. Finally about the 3rd or 4th bite stuck and I played and landed a 5 pound native buck to fill out my limit. Had both fish cleaned and was headed back to the marina by 1130 so caught most of the Hawks game between radio and TV.

Great late summer fishing day to be out on the Sound!!

Good luck and tight lines
