This weekend was a huge treat for me. My clients from work have a cabin right on the water and let my girlfriend and I stay out there for the weekend. The trip was cut short due to some medical issues I encountered. Day before heading out I suffered a Spontaneous Pneumothorax (Collapsed Lung) from working out to vigorously. That caused me to have shortness of breath most of the trip and forced me to leave early. Long story and rather not go into detail ha.

Lets talk about the fishing. My intentions were to catch the silver run pushing through the canal. To my surprise the natives were netting and really made it difficult to hook any salmon. So I changed up my game plan and started fishing for Sea-Run Cutthroat. Its a catch and release fishery so I made sure to pinch most of my barbs on my lures. I fished high tide, low tide, it didn't matter. These fish were absolutely aggressive and hungry. I caught around 30 fish averaging 10-12 inches. I did hook a few in the 15-19 inch range which I posed for in one of the pics. My choice of lure, which I stuck with the entire time, was a silver needle fish with a little bit of dick nite herring scent. Threw a split shot on there to add a bit of weight and had a blast catching these beauts. I did have one silver follow my lure to shore but did not seem that interested and swam away once he saw me and my raging biceps. After I had all my fun I packed it up and headed home.

It was nice to switch up the scene and fish waters that were foreign to me. I absolutely fell in love with it out there as it is very peaceful and quite. I look forward to getting back to the river fishing for silvers in the next week or so. Tight lines and hope to see ya out on the water!
