So its been a while since I have had a fishing trip worth sharing but this weekend was way too cool not to share.

My family, cousin and friends renting out a house in ocean shores all weekend to dig some razors. Ride down friday afternoon to hit the last evening tide and stay all weekend. The clam digging was pretty good, not awesome, but a little challenge never hurts. With three digs up for grabs I got 40 total. But the real story here is our new found love for surf perch. We've never tried until this weekend and I'm very glad we did. So Saturday after digging we decided to give it a shot. At first we were skeptical how something could live and eat in 4ft waves. But within 5 minutes my cousin pulled one in.... and it was a pig for a perch! And not more than a few minutes later I had one in myself. Damn they hit hard for their size! And dodging the waves.... way too fun. All in all I think between 12 of us we caught like 400 clams and the 3 of us who fished pulled in about 40 perch. My freezer is FULL. Surf perch fishing is awesome, I highly recommend anyone to who hasn't try it, get out there and get 'em!
