I wanted to try something different this morning so I launched the pontoon and tried trolling for the pinks with some Kokanee gear. Started about 6am and trolled around until 830 without a bite or seeing anything roll. I cruised along the Tacoma waterfront from 25' to 150' of water. Didn't mark much on the fish finder. Decided to call it quits and beached at my launching area, looked back at the water and noticed a flash on the bottom five feet behind the toon. Grabbed the fly rod, made a cast, wham! Fish on! Caught three more in six casts. Wtf! It was very cool and on the fly rod to boot. All the fish were within 20' of the shore in two feet of water. The charter boat captain was trying to figure out how to get his boat into the shallows as he watched me limit out. Even better!
