The kids asked to go fishing after I had gone out solo a few days ago. From looking at the forecasts the day before, it looked like it was going to be ok weather, not flat calm but not too windy. When I got up in the morning, the forecast had changed to windy. I checked the ferry weather and noticed the wind hadn't kicked up yet so gave it a shot since everything was packed and the kids were ready to go. Got to the Mukilteo launch at 8am. The parking lot was fairly full and you could see lots of boats to the south. The waves didn't look too bad so we launched and headed south. But the kids didn't like the waves so we made it just a little south and started trolling. At first I started trolling north since the wind was pushing us that way already and it would be easy to set out the lines that way. As we trolled by some other boats, I noticed there were a few other boats with nets out. But they were all headed south and the boats heading north didn't have many nets out. After we turned to troll south, we got our first Pink. The kids were not that interested in reeling the fish in, but more interested in pushing the button to bring up the downrigger. Go figure. Well I got the fish in and reset the gear. It took about 20 minutes before we got our next fish. The oldest at least wanted to help reel a little bit, after getting the downrigger up of course. The wind and the waves were building up more now. I was able to keep fishing for about another 40 minutes but no more fish. Headed back to the dock and let the kids play on the playground and at the beach. We were off the water by 10am and by the time we left the park at noon, there were not many boats left out fishing.
