Well, we knew it would be a tough day but it really sucks being skunked... Granted, today is the windiest day of the year and I am in a 12" fiberglass boat so not much chance here.
Early on, the waves weren't horrible, we had fun getting some spray on after we dropped crab pots (at least it was mostly sunny!). we headed south into the wind and waves (started at maybe 1 1/2 foot, grew to maybe 4 foot) before we turned around to troll using primarily wind power and we had no hits at 35 or 50-ish feet down, and none closer to the surface either.
Everyone we talked to today seemed to have no luck either.
Our crabbing at 40-65 feet yielded maybe 7 dungeness, none of which were keepers.
getting back onto land was really crappy, as soon as we got the boat to the shore, waves started filling my boat from the aft and started shorting out my batteries and stuff pretty quick :( a lot of people had issues getting onto their trailers and leaving the ramp while we just dragged my boat up to the top to get onto my trailer.
The Mukilteo boat launch has a ton of sand and rocks covering the ramp so it looks tough to get heavy boats out of the water. Oh, and it is a pretty hefty fee of $15/day there.
