I met up with fellow Northwest Fishing Reports member, Jimi, aka "Soulfish" We launched from the shilshole marina about 0700. It was great to go out on a weekday morning, as there was hardly anybody out there.

We started off fishing depths of 45-50'. Fished almost exclusively right out between the cans in front of the marina. We ran Gibb's Red Racer flasher and Gibb's Purple haze flashers, followed with Glo-white hootchie and Green splatter back hootchie. Leaders about 36" tipped with brined anchovie tails on the upper hook, and slathered in herring scent. We marked very few fish, and very few bait balls, but the bite was pretty good and quick early on. James had the first Coho to the boat in about 20 min. on the Purple haze and white hootchie at 50'. He also had the second fish about 40 min. later.
I didn't hook up until about 10:30. My rod got slammed pretty hard, and brought in a 6.5 lb buck hatchery coho.
That fish was a blast to catch. It stayed down so long, and didn't want to come to the surface. James was on the net, and in the livewell it went. As the light came on stronger we fished depths of 65-100'. My fish did come from 65', but mostly after 10:30 it was a lot of shakers. James did though lose probably 2 more keeper fish on the reel in, and we released a couple that were a little small.
The creel reports aren't lying. The Coho are out there. I think it is key to be there at first light, it slowed down a lot by 11:00 AM.
