Launched out of Mukilteo around 6am and was fishing at the bait box by 6:15am. I started in Area 8-2 and the boat launch at the south end of Possession and worked by way south. As I got to the 8-2 / 9 line, I could see lots of birds around scooping up bait fish on the surface. As I trolled by one of the bait balls, I got my first hit. It was a 6 lbs hatchery hen. After taking care of the fish, I reset. By then I had drifted a little south but could still see some bait on the surface ahead of me. So I dropped the gear and 10 minutes later I had my second fish on. This was a 4 lbs hatchery hen. I was using a red racer flasher with a green splatterback hoochie, standard coho gear, at 30 ft down. I even then switched to Pink gear to give that a go for a bit just to kill time. I was wanting to give the tide more time to come in to make it easier to retrieve at the Mukilteo launch. There were several other boats heading back in also having limited quickly. Mostly smaller fish still though as only one guy said they got a 9 lbs fish. With being done so early, I decided to stop by the Kenmore launch on Lake Washington to wash off the boat and gear and do a little more fishing since I was there.
