Got to north Beach right about 7am. Caught the end of the ebb. Made a few casts and in that brief time saw a few landed, so I felt optimistic. Sure enough, fish on. Fish followed the lure all the way to the beach. Hook up happened no more than 10 feet for shore. Landed the fish, and went back to work. Fishing always seems to be best there just at the start of the ebb tide, then just prior to slack. Saw nothing caught, well, except for the guy next to me that caught a decent male kelp greenling, until about 9:30 when I saw a few get landed and could hear folks talking about others they missed. By this time though the wind had picked up, fog and the tide was coming in, and it felt like the temp had dropped quite a bit. I was done. I made the rookie mistake of dressing per the weather forecast. Dumb. Was using a yellow/green buzz bomb with a pink hoochie, lathered in herring oil.
