Best morning of coho fishing Ive ever had. Launched out of Everett around 6:45 in the thick fog and had lines down East side of Whidbey around 7:15 or so where we saw some bait jumping. Frustrated with the fish not bitting yesterday I decided to change my rigs up. Went with 2/0 hooks instead of 4/0 and ran ace hi flys solo instead of with hoochies. Dropped lines down to 30 & 40 and had our first fish on soon after, but loose it. Send the ace hi back down and it gets hit right away and we land the first fish of the morning. I send the gear back down to 40 and we get another takedown after about 10 mins. While fighting one fish our other rod starts bouncing and we fight and land both fish. After that we circle around a few times and end up getting only 1 more in the area so we decide to keep moving South where we get our 5th and last fish near Possession bait co 45ft down. Would have liked to try and get the last one and limit the boat but wanted to get back in time to wash the boat and watch the Hawks game. Good luck out there.
