Posting this report for my grandson Logan. Today Logan caught his first salmon. From the surf, casting with his own pole under the guidance of his dad. This was a great day from the beach, many Coho were caught by anglers in the immediate area. Dad say's Logan has passed the test and looks forward to his next day fishing from the beach. Grandpa proud of his efforts. Go Loggy.

Thank you for sharing the love! Logan has been very patient up to this point, can't tell you how much time we've put in since August, but more time fishing than getting the chores done. I wasn't specific with Gramps, but we were in area 9, fishing Mutiny Bay, 2 1/2" chartreuse rotator with blue holographic. Slow retrieve speed, and I mean slow! The other half of the story is that Logan had an easy 5 lb fish on shortly after but it broke the line as he got it near the shore. 8 lb mono isn't very forgiving for a young fisherman. He's listening and learning though, and it shows. He had more action that day than some guys next to us. Lots of folks are retrieving at 100 Mph, and trying to rip their buzz bomb outta the water every two seconds. This usually leads to leaving empty handed. Bring it in slow, I've had many follow the rotator to shore, so a little bump every so often has encouraged the bites. Cheers!
