Aaaaaand this not so little piggy came home with me!! First off I rated today a 5 only because this is the biggest coho I've ever caught at just over 10. I know they get much bigger but hey it's my post lol. After my morning coffee and a few errands I was able to get down to the beach about noon. There were a few of the regulars already there and they said it's been dead...until I asked then BOOYAH BABY! One of them hooked up and landed a nice 5 maybe 6 pounder. I'm good luck apparently. Over the next hour 5 more landed by everyone but me but ya know I didn't care it was so fun watching these "old timers" stock the shelves so to speak. I decided to get some chores done ( yes in my last post yesterday I did say fishing is priority and work and chores will be there" so technically I did fish first but I had to get stuff done with the plans of coming back for an afternoon/evening bite. Well I'm good on my word and to my surprise there was only one other gentleman there. To digress briefly... Roger I hope you got your limit buddy! This proves to your wife you are fishing haha!! As I chat with Roger and getting my gear ready I'm noticing the silver fatties are jumping. After a bit of time maybe 30 minutes or so and nothing I decide to check my gear, leader, main line and such because WE ALL do that regularly right? Yeah whatever!! My mainline was pretty knocked up obviously from all the action the last several weeks so I cut and re-tied. I mentioned to my fellow beach mate Roger that it's going to be anytime now....cast........ DROP THE HAMMER PIGGY!! Fish on baby! After a nice battle and landing this gorgeous hook nosed coho I thought of how lucky I was to check my gear. I believe had I not that toad would have snapped off. Now everyone please take note because I am throwing props to Roger, he was between casts and when I hooked up and this fish was running all over he actually so respectfully waited for the fish to be landed before he cast out. I don't know many folks that would have done that but keep that in mind whenever your out. This was just a great day all around catching a great fish but more so fishing next to a great gentlemen who like myself appreciates whets out there and those around him. Unfortunately my fishing is done for a few days as I've got kids soccer all weekend? Set good examples, teach and be taught, know how lucky everyday out is, stay on the right side of the grass, and Good luck folks!
