Went squid jig twitchin this evening, first 2 hours were slow, then It turned on like a light switch, everyone in sight was catching on every cast for 1 1/2 hours until I left at 9:30. Squid were being caught left and right as I left, but I reached my limit of 10lbs. I also released a small rockfish. There is no fight to the squid at all... this is not really a sporting event, no challenge. Its more if a meat fishery, but there are so many squid, plenty to go around. The pier lights werent on oddly, which really isolated the squid into a few small areas of light. Only 2 lights going when I left, most people left just as it started to get good...

Hi Jon, nice going, Edmonds Pier? It's been packed there, people lined up from one end to the other,...have not got my limit yet, max for me is 22 only. You using single jig or multiple? Anyways, major props!!

Great Report! Which pier did you go to and what color jig was working?

These were 90% jumbo squid. I caught 75ish. Took about 50 minutes to clean them all. Single jig, edmonds pier. I also forgot to mention a fight almost broke out around 9pm.. I had my camera ready on my phone, but was disapointed, they solved their quarrel verbally (darn diplomacy, I was hoping for some action!) Lately it seems like the (squid)action gets good when people thin out. Try going later at night, or just be patient and wait for the waves of squid to come in.

Jig color is COMPLETELY irrelevant. I prefer 1 weighted squid jig. Youll notice it has some lead near the pointy end, while other jigs have a loop to tie more line to for multiple jig set ups. Dont use the non weighted jig by itself because it sinks too slowly, and will take too long to get where it needs to be. Using a double jig rig will help with the weight issue, but good luck if your fishing near some incompetant or inconciderate, youll spend 25% of your time untangling. Its easir to get your jig from water to hand with only 1 jig swinging in the breeze on the way up.
