My friend and I are on springbreak and took the opportunity to fished Neah Bay for the first time on Saturday/Sunday. Had a blast catching rockfish and a good sized cabezon. Got to catch a bunch of species that were new to us and as a bonus got to see a whale surface about 100' from us. We fished right outside the bay in my 13' inflatable boat which brought some funny looks from the locals :) Lingcod isn't open yet so we basically had the place to ourselves which was nice.

Nice cabazon,a lot of people throw them back as scrap but I find them an excellent fighter and one of the best eating fish in the ocean, wonderful fish and chips. For eating I'll put them along side lingcod any day.

The limit is 10 bottom fish in the straits of area 4 but only 6 rockfish (blue or black only) and 1 cabezon at least 18". We got 15 or so rockfish for the two days we were there and were fishing in the 40-60' range most of the time. The boat is a Saturn.

Good for you, and great bunch of fish? Did you jig or bait fish?
