Went out Saturday morning with a friend just off the beach (near the bath house) of golden gardens. Pulled pots about every 20 minutes for 3 hours, just 1 keeper. Tons of females. I cooked that one up Sat. afternoon and it tasted bad, kind of muddy.

I left my pots in over night and picked them up Sunday morning. 5 keeps, all just over legal and one monster red rock. I cooked them up and again they tasted bad. The red tasted great.

Any clue why the dungies tasted bad? anyone else find this too? I cooked them like I always do, boil in water for 15 minutes.

You should not be pulling your pots up every 20 minutes. That is like reeling in your line to check your bait ever 5 minutes. You went out crabbing for 3 hours. Set your pots at different depths, let them soak for an hour. Set all your pots at the depth and area you biggest producer was located. Or do like the lazy man does, set your pots and let them soak for 3 hours. That is what I usually do.
