First attempt at surf peach and WOW! What a blast. Our family is on vacation in Pac Beach and of coarse, I brought the fishing gear.
The action was steady and the fishing was intense. I had never surf fished before so the learning curve came fast while out in the waves. The biggest I caught was the one pictured at 1.5lbs. I used your typical surf perch set up that can be found online and in videos. The bait I used was Berkley Powerbait shrimp in the orange color.
I really enjoy surf fishing for the action and constant workout. We have 3 more days here so I will be putting in some more time and do a large report for the whole time in a couple of days.

Awesome...I love surf fishing perch in that area. What was the tide doing when the bite was on? Copalis Beach certainly has some good red tail.

Incoming has been the most active. I have found spawning grounds because two of the perch had live babies coming out of it. I have also seen the beach at a -1.5 and know know the transition areas and holes. I will say that any tide I have caught them and lost the biGgest one I have seen yet at my feet in an outgoing. Thanks for the info Dutch, I will check out Copalis. PM me with any particular spot and if you want to know where I have fished just hit me up.

nice, doesn't look anything like a yellow (fresh water) perch. Ive always wondered if they were related. apparently not
