Got out to the water just as it was getting dark, only time for one cast, quickly baited both hooks with a gulp pile worm section. Ran out with the receding waves and threw out the line as far as I could, quickly retreating the next incoming wave. Let the line sit through a few waves, then felt the familiar tap tap of a fish on the line. Set the hook as best I could and started reeling, to my surprise there was a decent sized surf perch on the line. One cast=One fish! Since darkness had descended, I had to find my way back to camp (forgot the flashlight).
The next day I ventured out after the rain had died down slightly, but every cast was just a pile of eel grass on both hooks and the weights. Gave up after a few cast with all the grass.
Sunday I gave it one more shot, the water was free from eel grass, but I could not get anything to stick. There were a couple soft bites but could not replicate the success of Friday night.

My first ever surf perch so that made for a successful weekend, even if I only got one to the shore.
